From 56k.Cloud to ACP Engineering AG
When 56k.Cloud was founded in 2018, the name was a wink at the dial-up era. A reminder that every great connection starts somewhere humble. Seven years, 150+ projects, and one life-changing partnership later, it's time for a new name. One that reflects where we're going, not just where we came from.
Today I'm excited to announce that 56k.Cloud is now ACP Engineering AG, and our new home on the web is acp.io.
Why rebrand now?
Last year we joined the ACP Group, one of Central Europe's largest IT platforms. That's 2,500+ experts across 50+ locations in Austria and Germany, and over a billion euros in annual revenue. This move wasn't about losing our identity. It was about amplifying it.
In the months since, something became clear. Our customers, our team, and our partners kept asking the same question: "So what exactly is 56k.Cloud within ACP?" And the answer was always the same: we're the engineers. The ones who get their hands dirty in cloud infrastructure, IoT protocols, and container orchestration. The ones who turn complex ideas into production systems.
Why acp.io?
In computing, I/O stands for input/output. It's the fundamental operation of every system we build. It's what our customers' machines do when they start sending telemetry to the cloud. It's what happens when a legacy monolith gets decomposed into containerized microservices.
But in the cloud industry, .io has become something more. It's the domain of builders. Look at the companies that run on .io: developer tools, cloud platforms, open-source projects, API-first infrastructure. It's a cultural signal. It says: we write code, we ship products, we solve engineering problems. Not a consultancy with a slide deck. Not a reseller with a logo wall. Engineers.
That's exactly what acp.io is meant to say. Concise, technical, honest.
What stays the same
Our team hasn't changed. The people who built 56k.Cloud, the cloud architects, DevOps engineers, IoT specialists, and platform builders, they're all here. More energised than ever.
What also stays is our culture. The ACP Group is 100% employee-owned, which means decisions are driven by long-term thinking, not short-term shareholder pressure. That resonated deeply with us when we joined. And it still does.
What's ahead
Our 2026 strategy is built around a simple conviction: enterprises are ready to modernize. From connecting factory floors to the cloud, to rearchitecting infrastructure, to putting AI agents to work. Most of them need an engineering partner who's done it before.
Here's what we're focused on:
-
Industrial IoT. Our platform, ACP-M, helps machine builders and manufacturers connect their equipments, unlock operational data, and launch digital services. We're not here to talk about IoT. We're here to deliver it.
-
IT Modernization. VMware's licensing changes sent shockwaves through enterprise IT. We saw an opening. We help organizations move from VMs to containers, modernize legacy workloads, and rearchitect for the cloud. And we have the cloud-native DNA to deliver it.
-
AI Agents for operations. We've integrated AI agents into our own engineering workflows. Code review, testing, deployment, documentation. Not as an experiment, but as part of how we ship every day. Now we bring that experience to our customers. We help teams find where AI agents have the highest impact, build and deploy the first one in weeks, and manage it in production. That's engineering. That's what we do.
A personal note
Rebranding a company you co-founded isn't trivial. The 56k.Cloud name carried seven years of late nights, first customers, hard lessons, and proud moments. But a name should serve the mission, not the other way around.
Our mission is to accelerate industrial IoT adoption, IT modernization, and practical AI deployment through purpose-built platforms and proven engineering. ACP Engineering AG, at acp.io, is the clearest expression of that mission I can imagine.
If you're a manufacturer thinking about connected products, an IT leader with a modernization backlog, or an ops team wondering where AI agents actually fit: come talk to us. We're engineers. It's what we do.
Welcome to acp.io.
